Larry Selinger, 76, of La Crosse, passed away from pancreatic cancer on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at his home. He was born on April 3, 1937 in Dickinson, ND to Louis and Rosemary (Frank) Selinger. The middle of 9 children, he moved to Little Falls, MN, at the age of seven. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1955, then proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959. He married Sharlet Shar Girtz on June 13, 1964, and called La Crosse their home beginning in 1970. He retired from NCR Corporation following a 30 year career. Over the past twenty years during his retirement, he enjoyed making and repairing golf clubs for many golfers and was a Certified Golf Club Maker. Larry enjoyed bowling, and served on the board of the La Crosse Area Bowlers Association for many years. He rolled many honor series, and enjoyed the camaraderie in the bowling leagues. Larry also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and rooting for the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. Larry especially enjoyed his time at his winter home in Brownsville,Texas. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Shar of 49 years, , he is survived by his five children; Jon (Dudley) Selinger, and their children Caroline and Luke; Jill (Ray Perez) Selinger, and their daughter Marissa; Jodie (Joe) Roden and their children Jake and Jacey; Pete (Lora) Selinger, and their daughter Elsa; Rachel (Scott) Alerding, and their children Anna, Sam, Eve, Patrick and Sean. Larry is also survived by his brothers Bernie and Gerry, and sisters Marian, Jo and Lolli. He was preceded in death by his brothers Wilfred & Jim, and his sister Angie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Roncalli Newman Center of La Crosse. Father James Kurzynski will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the U.S. Air Force. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call on the family Friday evening from 5 until 8 P.M. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel. Visitation will also be held Saturdayafternoon at the church from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services.
