Myron R. (Mike) Hass

Myron R. (Mike) Hass, 92 of La Crosse died on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Hillview Healthcare Center. He was born June 28, 1921 in Barre Mills, WI to John Martin and Dora (Rodenberg) Hass. He traversed the county roads with his father and drove a cab in his youth. It must have initiated his love of automobiles which lasted the rest of his life. On November 25, 1942 he married Catherine Hegenbarth in La Crosse. They enjoyed bus trips together throughout the U.S. and were often joined by their card-playing friends. Myron worked for many years at United Auto Supply before retiring in 1984. After retirement, he volunteered as a driver for RSVP transporting senior citizens to appointments. He also spent time socializing with the Knights of Columbus. Myron is survived by his two children; Nancy (Bernie) Nugent of Madison, WI and Michael Hass (Mary Bissen) of Onalaska; four grandchildren, Sara Nugent (Ken Jackson) of St. Louis, MO, Casey (Amy) Nugent of Richmond, VA, Cainon (Kelli) Hass of Byron, MN and Tim Hass of Onalaska, WI; four great-grandsons, Tyler and Devin Jackson, Levi and Liam Nugent and great-granddaughter Kenlee Hass. He will be missed by special friends Marlene and ArtFregin of La Crosse and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Catherine; he was preceded in death by his sisters, Charlotte (Frederick) Gebhart and Serena (Allen) Mc Vey and brothers Martin (Dickie) Hass and Goodwin (Leone) Hass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 20th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 130 Losey Blvd. South with Msgr. Robert Hundt officiating. A private burial will follow in Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Sunday from 3-5 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse and again at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving yet professional care given Myron by the Hillview staff for the past eight years.
