Caleb Scheer Caleb Scheer, age 32 passed into the loving hands of his Lord & savior Jesus Christ this week. He is survived by wife Jennifer and son Elliott, his parents Al and Lory Scheer, sister Tawney and Tom Latona, in-laws: Dave & Rita Stalsberg and sister-in-laws Jackie & Ben Abbott and Julia, many extended family and a multitude of friends. To many the word "adventure" is a bit scary but Caleb embraced the word and to him, life in general took on the term - "Adventure"! Caleb grew up with a passion for the out-of-doors, whether paddling the Boundary Waters, or backpacking in the Rockies or climbing forteeners or cross country skiing Wisconsin, he always enjoyed the adventure and sharing it with someone. Caleb was a true friend and he truly relished their adventures together including annual camping trips, canoe outings, cook outs or Dr. Who marathons. Caleb enjoyed the adventure of computers, whether building them or exploring their usefulness. He turned this adventure into a career and became a Computer Administrator for Select Trusses of West Salem, Wisconsin. His passion, since the age of 16, was trilobite collecting and he thrived on the adventure of science. Caleb became internationally respected as a North American Ordovician trilobite expert. Caleb has found close to 30 new species of trilobite from the Upper Mississippi River region, one of which bears his name while a second bears the name of his wife, Jennifer. He was always available to assist someone in the pursuit of the adventure of fossil collecting. His biggest adventure was his most recent: that of being a husband and a father, a role for which he took on as he had the out-of-doors, computer science or paleontology with passion and enthusiasm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday; February 8th at Wesley United Methodist Church, 721 King Street, La Crosse with Rev. Ellen Rasmussen officiating.
