Patricia C Papenfuss

d. February 5, 2014

Patricia was born May 10, 1946, daughter to the late Milton and Audrey (Allen) Hanson. She married her beloved husband of 50 years, Alton, on May 30, 1964 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nodine, Minn. Pat was known for her strong work ethic and spent many years in retail services. She provided exceptional customer service at Grants, Kmart, Nodine Feed Store, Ks Corral, and Pickwick Inn, then retired after twelve years with Fleet Farm. In her personal time Pat enjoyed baking, listening to country music, decorating her home, making wreathes, and reading. Pat will always be remembered for cherishing Christmastime, and as the consummate host whose preferred activity was spending time with family and friends. Pats health declined rapidly during her final year despite an unmatched desire to stay with us, and she received exceptional care from family, friends, and especially her loving sister Betsy. The family would also like to extend gratitude to Rev. Dennis Harbach, Gundersen Hospice, and Dr. Frank Aberger of Gundersen Lutheran for their very special level of care. Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, who will be sorely missed by her family. She is survived by husband, Alton; children, Kari (Rick) Frick, Stephanie Joey (Paul) Eggert, Jennifer (Joseph) Garetto, Charlie Thongbai, and Smith Thongbai; grandchildren, Christopher (Juliann) Frick, Chad Frick, Cody Frick, Joshua Eggert (fianc Alanna Modjeski), Jeremy Eggert, Tarini Eggert, and Elena Garetto; and great grandchildren, Audrey Frick, Adalyn Frick, and Alexander Eggert. She is further survived by ten siblings: brothers, Greg (Marie), Hanson, Vic (Stella) Hanson, Joe (Char Lou) Hanson, Stanley Corky (Kathy Jo) Hanson, Ken Hanson, Kevin (Evelyn) Hanson, Kert (Roxanne) Hanson; sisters Betsy (Fritz) Grewe, Mary (Peter Olson) Hanson, Karen (Mark) Kohlwey; brothers-in-law, Lawrence (late Winnie) Papenfuss, Marvin (Linda) Papenfuss, and Charles (Kim) Papenfuss; sisters-in-law, Arlis (late Michael) Feehan, Darlene (Claude) Patzner, Tina (Dennis) Gile; numerous nieces and nephews; Charlie and Smiths biological mother and good friend, Jian Thongbai; and her very special aunt Arvilla Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Audrey Hanson; brother, Allen Hanson; favorite uncle, Stanley Allen, mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Harriet Papenfuss, brothers-in-law, Wayne Baldy Papenfuss and Michael Feehan. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 10th, at 11:00 am, at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in Nodine. Pastor Dennis Harbach will officiate. Burial will follow immediately in nearby St. Johns Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 111 South Oak St., in La Crescent, on Sunday, February 9th, from 3:00 until 8:00 pm and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
