Terry R Bernd

He was born in La Crosse on October 6, 1956, to Robert H. and Lois A. (Wurzel) Bernd and was a 1974 graduate of Central High School. On May 21, 1988, Terry married Judith A. (Powers) Lecher at Asbury United Methodist Church in La Crosse.

Terry worked for a short time for Pinkerton Security and as a security guard at St. Francis Medical Center. He then worked for Metz Bakery and Sara Lee Bakery, for many years until retiring for health reasons. In his free time, Terry loved collecting HO trains and was an avid model railroader. He also enjoyed backyard campfires and was an ardent Dallas Cowboy fan.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; two daughters, Nicole (William) Frye and their children, Dylan and Rabecca, all of La Crosse, and Jennifer Bernd (Nathan Davis) of La Crosse; his mother, Lois (Ray Hough) Bernd-Hough, of La Crosse; one sister, Roberta (Tim) Korish of La Crosse; two brothers, Brian Bernd of Federal Heights, Colo., and Danny (Lori) Bernd of Thornton, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his faithful companion and best friend, his dog, Sheldon.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 15th, at Faith United Methodist Church (Asbury UMC), 1818 Redfield St., La Crosse. Rev. Scott McMurray will officiate. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
