Michael S Moen

Michael Scott Moen, 62, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, at his home in La Crosse, WI after a short battle with cancer. Michael was born November 15, 1951 in Madison, WI to Richard S. and Lottie M. (Mashak) Moen. Michael Mickey was raised in La Crosse, WI and attended Harry Spence Elementary School, Longfellow Junior High and graduated with the class of 1969 from Central High School. It was at Central where he met his future wife, Kathryn Noel. Mick and Kathy were married on April 27, 1974. Together they raised two beautiful sons, Nick and Scott. In 1973, Michael received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Bradley University in Peoria, IL and his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1977. For 36 years he practiced law in La Crosse until his illness prompted his retirement in December 2013. Michael cherished his family and friends. He was passionate about fishing and his Ranger boat. And he adored his dogs, Boston and Jax. Michael was a quiet, intelligent man with a charming sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; his children Nicholas Moen (Megan Coyle) of Portland, OR and Scott (Kaylen) Moen of Madison, WI; his mother, Lottie Moen of La Crosse, WI and one brother, Kellen (Greta) Moen of Billings, MT. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Karolyn (Terry) Collins of La Crosse; John Noel and James (Amy) Noel of Onalaska, WI; Beth (Rocky) Bartlett of Brownsville, MN; Jeffry (Judy) Noel of Holmen, WI and Sarah (Greg) Griffiths of Rochester, MN. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews Kyle Moen, Christine Moen, Mary Beth Collins, Anna (Tomaso Mani) Collins, Julie (Mark) Reyes, Mitchell (Janet) Noel, Collin Noel (Emilee Sharp), Cassie Noel; Kim Noel, Hannah Noel (Eric Bouchard), Wendy (Brian) James, Larry Kaufmann (Jess Novy), Robbie Kaufmann (Jen Doering), Jamie Noel Beeskau (Eric Mysliwiec), Shannon Noel, James Griffiths and Noelle Griffiths. Michael was preceded in death by his father and sister, Kathryn Ann Moen, and his mother-in-law, Marilyn Nelson. Friends may call upon the family from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse.
