Bernice A Christianson

Bernice A. Christianson, 88 of La Crosse passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Benedictine Manor in La Crosse. She was born in the town of Christiana, Wis., on December 30, 1925 to Arnold and Amy (Larson)Mehlum.At the age of 17 she moved to La Crosse and was employed as a housekeeper for the local District Attorney.On Oct 1, 1949, she married Orvis M. Christianson. Togetherthey had one daughter,Suellan.Orvis preceded her in death in 1971. Through the years Bernice was also employed by the Erickson Bakery, Woolworths, Handy Builders Hardware, and her last employer before her retirement, Ace Hardware.After retirement she enjoyed her home, family and many good friends. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters,Alvina(Harry)Baehrand Lorene (Howard) Johnson, and her brothers, Elmer, Wilmer, Harvey, and Walter (Clara)Mehlum. She is survived by her daughter,Suellan (David) Dwyer of Holmen, her grandson Corey Dwyer and great grandson Devon Dwyer, both of Holmen, one step-great granddaughter Shasta (Nick) Parker of Sparta, WI, three great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services Onalaska chapel; 907 Sand Lake Road. Private burial in the Country Coon Prairie Church Cemetery of Westby, Wis. will be at a later date.
