Robert E Stanton

Robert E. Stanton, 76, of Onalaska, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born on February 6, 1938 in La Crosse to Earl and Alverda (Bergum) Stanton. Bob graduated from Central High School in La Crosse. On August 24, 1957 he married Gloria Sanderson in La Crosse. He had worked at F.W. Means for many years. After retiring he helped manage the Arterial Tavern and worked at Wisconsin Job Service. The past 56 years Bob and Gloria spent their time together cheering on the Packers and the Badgers. They also enjoyed traveling and time outdoors. Bob enjoyed his Wednesday luncheons with his high school classmates. He is survived by his wife Gloria, son Mark Stanton of Simi Valley, CA a daughter Jolene Herlitzke-Foss and her husband Allen Foss of Onalaska, four grandchildren James & Joey Stanton and Sarah & Brianne Herlitzke and Lola, his great grand-dog who held a special place in his heart along with two very special friends Jeff Koeller and Mark Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Matthew Herlitzke and most recently a daughter Mary Lamkin. As a husband of 56 years, father of three, and the greatest grandfather to my sister, cousins and I, we were not ready to say Goodbye. But it is plain to see that it was your time to bein Heaven with God for eternity. So while you are there be sure to spare a spot for us with you. Because right now we fear what life will be like on earth without you here. Brianne Memorial services will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, April 21, 2014 at English Lutheran Church, 1509 King St., La Crosse. Pastors Melinda Pupillo and Wendy Haberman will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 4:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Gundersen Health System. The Schumacher Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, La Crosse Chapel is assisting the family.
