Rose E. Brown, 88, of La Crosse, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Onalaska Care Center.

She was born in Browns Valley, rural Mindoro, Wis., on January 11, 1926, to William and Edna (Pfaff) Lange. She married Darwin Jake Brown on April 14, 1946, in the Burr Oak Lutheran Church parsonage. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1997.

Rose is survived by six children, Michael (Mary) Brown of La Crosse, Wayne (Sue) Brown of Galesville, Wis., Gordon Brown of La Crosse, Rhonda Brown (Mike Cavers) of La Crescent, Romaine (Joey) Domenget of La Crosse, and Renee (Everett) Alleman of Mindoro; thirteen grandchildren, Shawn (Robert) Fisher, Curtis Hesse, Troy Hesse, Susan (Kevin) Engstad, Jacob (Julie) Brown, Matthew Brown, Erin Molly Brown, Bailey Brown, Angela Domenget, Christine Fiers, Jenny Fiers, Lillian Alleman, and John Alleman; seven great grandchildren, Manny, Jack, Amber, Brayden, Makayla, Donovan and Riley; her sisters, Helen Niedfeldt of Bangor, Margaret Schultz of La Crosse, and Marie Schmidt of Sparta; her brothers, Norman (Jean) Lange of Coon Valley and Eugene (Mary) Lang of Tucson, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Leo (Bev) Brown of Melrose; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Roxana Hesse; son-in-law, Arthur Hesse; and a brother, Richard Lange.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 29th, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 907 Sand Lake Road, in Onalaska. Rev. Ted Dewald will officiate. Burial will follow in French Island Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
