Jon Robert Borgen

Jon Robert Borgen, 54 of La Crosse passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, June 9, 2014. He was born on March 10, 1960 in La Crosse to Robert O. and Ann Marie (Hopland) Borgen and graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1978. He then enlisted in the Army National Guard and served for several years until his discharge. Jon had worked for nearly 30 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse as a mechanic. On September 22, 1984 he married Mary McCormick and they later divorced. Jon loved many outdoor activities including fishing and boating. He also enjoyed the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers. Jon is survived by his brother, Steven J. Borgen of Onalaska; his former spouse, Mary (McCormick) Borgen of Onalaska; friend, Karen Novak of La Crosse and many other friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Christine Caroline Borgen in 1987. In accordance to Jons wishes, his body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 14th at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse with Pastor Tom Meyer officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of services.
