A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Michael (Mike) Dennis McFadden, 72, of Onalaska passed peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 with his family by his side.

He was born on November 20, 1941 in La Crosse, to Robert and Evelyn (Netwall) McFadden. He grew up in Holmen and graduated from Holmen High School in 1961 where he participated in football and basketball. Mike worked for Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. in La Crosse where he retired after 40 years of service. He married Mary Jo Schumacher on December 21, 1968.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to fish and hunt. Together with his wife, Mary, they traveled many places, bass fishing with great friends, including Minnesota and Kentucky. He also shared many memorable times hunting and fishing with his children, grandchildren and his brother Pat. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Jo McFadden; two daughters, Tina (Mark) Shuda of La Crosse, Dawn McFadden of Onalaska; two sons, Mark (LeAnne) McFadden of Appleton and Michael (Haley) McFadden of La Crosse; four grandchildren, Taylor and Elle Shuda, Matthew McFadden and Marcus McFadden. He is also survived by one brother, Pat (Sara) McFadden of Onalaska; one brother-in-law, Charles Van Stippen of Appleton; two nephews, Robbie McFadden of Onalaska and Todd Van Stippen of Appleton, as well as many special friends of many years. He is preceded in death by his parents; Robert and Evelyn McFadden, and one sister, Dianne Van Stippen. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful neighbors and close friends for their compassion and support; and to the staff of Gundersen Health System Hospice Program for the excellent care that was provided to Mike and his family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Schumacher Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Pastor Ted Dewald will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred and will be used in Mikes memory.
