Our much loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Elizabeth Rae Sis Scheck, 76, of La Crosse passed from this vale of tears into eternal life on Thursday, June 26, 2014. She was born December 26, 1937, in La Crosse, WI to Wesley and Elizabeth (Weig) Cole. She attended First Ev. Lutheran Grade School, Longfellow Middle School and Central High School, graduating in the Class of 1955. Rae married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Scheck on April 14, 1956. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, her daughters Debra (Pat) Longmire of Spring Grove, MN and Connie (Hal) Forseth of La Crosse; Sons Randy (Anne) of Burlington, Steven (Susan) and Gregory (Kathy) both of La Crosse. She is further survived by 18 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren and sisters-in-law Ramona Cole and Gail Berndt. Preceding her in death are her parents and her brothers Darrel Wesley Cole on May 7, 1971 and Paul Henry Cole on September 21, 1984; and a nephew, Paul Henry Cole, Jr. on January 14, 2013. Rae was a lifelong member of First Ev. Lutheran Church. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the choir for over 58 years as well as singing solo for many weddings and funerals. She was also a member of the Choral Union for over 40 years. She was a skilled seamstress and worked for the La Crosse Garment Company and Jack Winter. She later assisted in the preschool classroom at First Ev. Lutheran School and was the custodian of the church. She loved serving her Lord and was a member of the Altar Committee, Reception Committee, Mothers Club, Ladies Aid, OWLS and the Cozy Quilters. She was a caregiver to those who needed her and a friend to all. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave. S, La Crosse. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 30 at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 West Ave. S, La Crosse, with a visitation an hour before services. Pastor Roger Sachs will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Ev. Lutheran Church or School; or Luther High School, Onalaska. We would like to thank the staff of Gundersen Health System for the care they gave Mom these last weeks of her life. And pleaseladies! Schedule your mammogram today! Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken.
